he invention of wheel set ablaze various Indigenous applications. Man’s greed balooned   as much in the case of the Fan. As early as 1390 the Latin word “Vannus” meaning “device for moving air” was attested. The device was not only used as fan but also got applied for winnowing (separating Husk from grains). The device existed in two models as early as 1800s.  A floor model and an over head model. The over head model was also floor mounted but suspended over head. Literally over the head of the person. The mechanics was simple for anybody’s understanding. Simple wheels moving one another. The thought was unique. But very much a part of evolution.  This manual operated wooden winged fan was sourced when it served a Salem region Mirasudhar (land lord) as a farm fan and winnower. This has been a popular application until very recently in many Asian villages. And forms a part of  The Steve Borgia Indian Heritage Museum at INDeco Hotels Swamimalai and INDeco Hotels Mahabalipuram. Both the Hotels have a good collections of the ancient fans. All in use until this day.
